Eba, Other APC States Chairmen South South Meet Senate President

The Cross River State APC chairman and National Secretary of the APC Chairmen Forum, Alphonsus Ogar Eba Esq, JP yesterday night along with his colleagues from the South South Geo political zone met with the President of the Senate, H. E. Sen Godswill Obot Akpabio GCON in Abuja where crucial issues about the unity of the party and overall development and growth of the party and the citizens of the region was discussed.

Eba in his remarks congratulated the President of the Senate for his emergence as President of the Senate and thanked him for his unflinching support to the Renewed Hope agenda of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR.

The Cross River State APC chairman commended the harmonious leadership that exist between the Senate President and the only Governor from the zone who is the Governor of Cross River State, H. E. Sen Prince Bassey Otu and their spouses.

The State Chairmen while expressing solidarity with the President of the Senate recounted that the south south Geo political zone last had the seat of Senate President in 1979 which is 45 years ago.

The Chairmen declared total support for Sen. Akpabio’s commitment towards the infrastructural development of the area especially the on going Lagos – Calabar Coastal road and railway line being embarked upon by President Tinubu.

According to Eba, the completion of this project within record time will immortalize President Tinubu in the hearts of the people of the region. He therefore appealed to the President of the Senate and Government not to be distracted by the antics of the opposition as the Lagos calabar coastal road project is the most ambitious and laudable project ever to have been embarked upon as a reward for a region that is contributing blood and oxygen to the economic survival of Nigeria.

The Senate President commended the APC Chairmen for their visit and used the opportunity to share the good plans of the Tinubu led Government towards the economic prosperity agenda for Nigeria as a whole, south south in particular. Sen. Akpabio praised the President for the Lagos calabar coastal road as very visionary. He went further to inform the Chairmen that he personally inspected the on going construction of the project with the Minister of works yesterday in Lagos before returning back to Abuja. The President of the Senate informed the chairmen that almost 3. 5 kilometers of the road has so far being achieved from the Lagos bar beach channel.

He went further that work will commence concurrently from the calabar end, the bayelsa and Delta channels so that a speedy completion like it was the case with the dualization of Keffi – Akwanga – Lafia – Makurdi highway is achieved.

He further urged them to use their positions to maintain peace, law and order in the region.

The President of the Senate charged the chairmen to work harder so that the visibility of the party in region will grow from one state to more states.

Sen. Akpabio who said he understands the burden being faced by the chairmen assured them that in the days ahead, a meeting of critical stakeholders comprising State chairmen, National Assembly members, Ministers and other Appointees from the region will be convened to work out modalities to support the party at various state chapters as a way of engendering unity and understanding amongst all party members to foster social cohesion between the party and elected/ appointed officials in Government.

The chairmen concluded the meeting with a dinner with the President of the Senate.
